BARD—OF—GANGES



Holy waters, ceremonial dips
Oblations and offerings of flowers,
Milk, honey, betel and basil leaves,
Prayers to gods, in this river,
In Ganges the
Wishes born,
Granted and fulfilled.
Water, air and serenity
The bard enjoys.

Unlike the rivers Nile, Amazon, Volga,
Thames, Seine and Danube,
The holy river Ganges,
Fills the bard with feelings of
Joys.

The villagers on it,
Waking, Working, Walking
Hears this
Bard--of—Ganges,
The Singing minstrel,
Full of divine ambrosia, he
Sings the song, full
Of love, sorrows, suffering,
Pleasures and happiness
Of villages, on Ganges.


Celebrations and hardships,
Auspicious occasions,
He sings, wandering.
Wonderful and bewitching
Is he, the familiar?
Son- of- Ganges, the nomadic,
Bard--of—Ganges.
